A skidding cone is an essential tool for small-scale forestry. It prevents logs from colliding with roots, stumps and other obstacles. Its elliptical nose provides solidity and allows it to slide over the residual trees thus avoiding regeneration damage.
Made of high-performance plastic, it is light, flexible and practically unbreakable.Â
Its large opening can receive logs up to 50 cm diameter or several small stems attached together using a choker chain. Friction with the ground is reduced considerably, which allows larger loads to be carried. It can be used behind an all-terrain vehicle, a snowmobile, a small tractor and even a horse and this in any season since it is resistant to temperatures of up to - 30°C (-22°F).
It is obviously designed for pulling logs with a capstan winch!
