What types of Rifles does RMR build

1. We can build pretty much any type of rifle required to fill your needs, from a 6 pound mountain gun to a 15 pound f-class target rifle.

How do I determine the right “Custom” gun for me?

2. Because each custom rifle is unique, what will suit your needs best comes down to quite a bit of personal preference. What are you planning to shoot with this rifle, and where are you taking it? What style of stock feels best to you? Do you want something to shoot 1000 yards all day long, or something that won’t weigh you down when climbing a mountain? Typically, the best place to start when planning your custom build is deciding on calibre, purpose, and ideal weight.

What is the typical price range for an RMR Rifle?

3. Price range on an RMR depends heavily on the components you’d like us to use. With the current U.S. exchange rate, most of our guns will start between $4000-$4500 and go up from there.

What is the difference between a stock rifle and a “Custom” RMR Rifle?

4. Generally speaking, the answer here will be construction quality, fit, and the ability for the customer to get exactly what he’s looking for in terms of calibre and function. Because our rifles are built by hand rather than on a production line, we can ensure that everything is made to optimal specifications for the user’s needs, as well as sized exactly for them. Another great benefit is that we can make you a rifle in virtually any calibre you desire, rather than you being limited to what is offered by a manufacturer.

Does the RMR rifle have a warranty?

5. We stand behind our product. If you run into any kind of issue with your custom rifle, we will be more than happy to support you and get it sorted out.

What are the major components of a custom RMR rifle

6. There is no exact answer to this as each rifle is a little different. Generally speaking, we use either the Stiller TAC series of actions, or something from the Defiance line. Barrels come down to what the customer would like, but we tend to keep a good supply of Wilson and Proof Research barrels on hand. Stocks are similarly a matter of preference, but we try to keep some options from most of the major manufacturers (Manners, HS Precision, McMillian, Bell and Carlson) on hand at all times.

How long does it take to get a RMR Rifle once the parts all arrive?

7. Most of the build time on an RMR is indeed waiting for the parts to arrive. After everything has arrived, it will typically take a month to three months to get everything together. Sometimes this can be much shorter depending on the customer’s needs.

Does RMR sight my rifle in?

8. We typically will not sight your gun in after building it unless requested. The reason for this is that everyone holds and shoots a rifle differently, and what’s dead-on for us may not be dead-on for you. Doing a bore sight and barrel break-in are standard, but actually shooting the gun in is done by request only.

What can I expect for accuracy /groupings for RMR Rifle?

9. All our guns should be capable of shooting sub-MOA at any given distance with factory ammunition. With handloading, you should be able to tighten your groups to half-MOA or better.

Why don’t you ship RMR rifles to the US? Or outside Canada?

10. Permit issues and the general headache of exportation. There is enough of a Canadian market for rifles, and enough good quality custom rifle builders in the U.S. that we have decided not to be involved in the significant financial and time costs required to deal internationally.

What selection does RMR offer for rifle calibers?

11. We have equipment on hand to build a gun in virtually any SAAMI recognized calibre, as well as a few more unusual options such as 6.5-.300 WSM. About the only limiting factor on getting yourself a .22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer is chamber reamer and gauge availability. If you’d like a chambering we do not have the tooling for, we can usually try to source something out for you at additional cost.

Does an RMR rifle come with a case?

12. We offer a wide variety of cases at an excellent discount for RMRs. Most Black Rams or other guns packaged with an optic will include a case.

What is the Black Ram series of RMR rifles?

13. The Black Ram is essentially the same thing as a custom RMR. Black Rams are simply guns built with components we have on hand to sit on our shelf – you could consider them our “production rifle”. Materials and manufacturing quality are identical to what we offer in a custom rifle. The biggest difference most people will notice is that a custom rifle is built to fit the customer exactly, wheras a Black Ram has a standard length of pull designed to fit the majority of shooters.

What finish is available on RMR rifles?

14. We offer a wide variety of finishes for the metal components, from bare stainless, to blued, to a Cerakote or powdercoat finish in a variety of colors. Stocks can be left unpainted, or can be painted or hydrodipped in a variety of patterns.

How does the Huskemaw Turret system work?

15. The Huskemaw is built around the concept of an unbeatably accurate custom turret system. We collect virtually every bit of real-world ballistics data that will affect where your bullet ends up going, and build a turret based off of that. Once the data collection is completed and the turret installed, it’s as simple as turning to the large “8” on the turret if you’d like to shoot 800 yards. Windage is also done via pre-determined numbers burned onto the turret, something not available in other BDC turret systems. See our Huskemaw page for more information.

If I want to buy an RMR custom rifle, how much money do I need to put down? Do you offer terms?

16. Typically, we’ll be looking for roughly 50% of the cost of the gun to begin the building process. This number can be moved around a bit depending on your needs.
